Denmark
It just struck me — I’m going to a land I know practically nothing about. This prompted me to make a short list of everything I do know about Denmark.
Okay, I have no difficulties locating Denmark on the map and I know its capital is Copenhagen. I also know that Denmark is a member of the European Union, though it’s definitely not in the eurozone. I know pretty much about Denmark’s welfare system, which is more generous than most of its European counterparts (see the Nordic model). Also, I’ve heard a thing or two about Christiania, probably Copenhagen’s most notorious neighborhood. Lama Ole Nydahl is a Dane. Oh, and registered same-sex partnerships are allowed in Denmark.
But, really, what do I know about Denmark that could come in handy while I’m there? Actually, I did got a fat Reiseführer and I hope to go through it by the end of next week.
The countdown is on: 21 days to go!
